Campground Rules

Rules & Regulations

Please enjoy your stay at Mountain Shadows! We strive to create a relaxing and enjoyable experience for all our campers.

    • Check-in after 2:00 p.m.  Check-out time 11:00 a.m.
    • No person shall create or cause a disturbance in the campground.
    • Quiet Time is between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
    • Fires in designated fire pits only and must be extinguished before leaving the campground.
    • All pets must be restrained on a leash, all droppings must be placed in the waste containers.
    • Parking in designated sites only, No parking on the roadway.
    • All food items must be securely stored and garbage must be placed in the containers provided, to discourage visits from our neighborhood bears.
    • Children are to be supervised at all times.
    • No Fireworks and No Firearms of any kind, BB and Pellet guns included.
    • No cutting or defacing of trees.
    • Sani-Dump for MSC Campers only.

Great Location and Campsites. We stayed one night and were quite impressed with the Mountain Shadows Campground. The campsites are huge. Lots of trees and brush around each campsite to make it feel like camping. You can see your neighbours but your far enough away to make a great experience. The campsite is next to Hwy 1 but the road noice is not noticeable. Lots of wildlife at the campsite as well. We had several squirrels visiting us and the sign at check in says there is a family of foxes living in the campground. Sites are fully serviced. Great one night stay! We will have to come back for a longer stay.

A really nice and clean campground with Big Sites. What a great campground! So many beautiful trees and you have enough privacy even though you can see the other campers but so private and really nice and clean. The sites are Big and no problems getting in them. We have a 35 foot Toyhauler and so much room for it with truck. Not sure why people complain about highway noise. It’s really not an issue. The staff were all amazing and helpful and very friendly. The bathrooms and showers are extremely clean! Bike trails from the campground which is amazing! Amazing bike trails around Sparwood! Super relaxing campground! This was our first time here and will definitely come back and recommend it.

Love this campground This is a very nice campground . Fernie campgrounds were all booked so we had to book here . I will say if we ever visit Fernie again we will just come stay here again . It’s nice and bathrooms very clean . Free showers , fire wood and staff was very friendly. I would recommend this campground to anyone

Great value! I grew up in Sparwood but my family has since left so we have started a tradition of going back and camping there every year for Coal Miner Days. The spots are well set up and very private. Free firewood is almost unheard of these days and they not only provide it, but chop it for you as well! Both the bathroom/shower houses are spacious and the showers are hot and free (also unheard of in many other campgrounds I have stayed in.) The area is closed off enough that my friends let their kids bike around the loop for hours and they had a blast doing that and enjoying the park. We stay in sites on the golf course side so can't comment on the highway noise, but in general, we have found the campground to be nice and quiet. I have camped many, many places in Canada and the US and can honestly say this one in my own hometown is my favorite. We'll be booking our sites for next year soon!

Great! Great campsite! Very clean bathrooms and proper hot showers that were incredible! And FREE wood!!!! Hero’s! Great time of year, quieter than usual! Just off the highway but totally not phased by the road noise. Perfect little hike around the golf course leading off the back of the campsite to take our 5 month old puppy!

Loved our 2.5 month stay. We spent part of 2018 summer here while we looked for our new home. The sites are well maintained and and large enough for oversized RV’s. Bathrooms were the cleanest I’ve ever used and the staff was very accommodating. Because it’s close to the highway may not be the best for tenters. Free firewood and reasonably priced for full services. Way cheaper than fernie and private. Read more

Beautiful campground with huge wooded sites, lots of privacy. Great playground for kids. Washrooms with showers- very clean & free. Staff are friendly. It is along the highway but traffic slows at night. Close to restaurants and rivers. Lots of wildlife in area. They also have a covered group picnic area with tables & lights.

The lady at the front office was really helpful, accommodating - allowed us to check out late so we could go ride the Sparwood mtn bike trails before we packed everything up, showered and travelled on our way. So grateful for her kindness. BTW the shower house is spotless clean, hot water any and everytime. It shows they care. Great people!!

Probably my favourite private campground I've stayed in. It has the feel of a provincial park, with generously spaced sites, and the whole property being treed. (They could probably fit 3-4x more sites on the property if they cared to!) Great central playground, good showers, free firewood, friendly staff, and the Elk Valley / Coal Discovery Trail runs right by the property, so there's quality mountain biking and hiking right from your site (can ride this 2/3 singletrack trail 30km to Fernie). Compared to the Fernie RV resort, Mountain Shadows is a fair bit cheaper, has a better playground, and has nicer treed sites with great firepits - you'll just be driving 20 minutes to Fernie and probably won't have sewer. I'll be back.
